Budget Advisory Committee Meeting
November 7, 2012

Meeting opened at 6:05 PM
Present: NNickerson-Chair, DBoilard, GRussell, KPaulsen, AKulgren, and MSteere; CLong advised the Chair that she could not attend due to work.
The Chair handed out material prepared by KPaulsen comparing Greenfield expenses with other area Towns. The Committee reviewed and asked questions on the material.
The Committee reviewed the latest budget information for both income and expense issues.
There was a discussion on non-profits and impact on the Town – PILOTs, etc.
MSteere updated the Committee on school budget issues and answered questions.
There was a review of the Road Commission meeting minutes and recommendations. The ten-wheeler replacement issues - buy new, buy used or lease were considered and the Committee agreed that the Town Administrator should look into possible leasing alternatives.
The Committee felt that it might be the time to look into alternatives to the current school structure based on the over-riding impact of school cost on the tax costs to the Town.
Some general discussion on departmental budgets and alternative approaches to operations continued until the meeting adjourned at 8:45 PM.
